MARK SPOON DIED OF A HEART ATTACK
It is with a lot of sadness that we've been told about the death of Mark Spoon (Jam & Spoon), who died of a heart attack on january 11 in his home in Berlin.
Born in 1966, Markus Löffel began to make a name by djing at famous club "Omen" in Francfort. But he's career really took of after having met Jam El Mar, with who he created "Jam & Spoon". Hits like "Stella" and "Right In The Night" have burnt the dancefloors of the whole world, and their remix of "Age Of Love" is maybe one of the biggest succes of the rave's years.
Mark Spoon was too an activist of the German techno scene, behind a lot of raves, and part of the organisation of the famous "Love Parade"...

having been a messy raver for more years than i care to remember, "jam & spoons" tunes were and will be head and shoulders above its peers.it is a sad reminder of our own mortality but we should all rejoice and be thankfull for the legacy he his left with us. My thoughts and condolences go to his family.

i started collecting J&S singles since Stella, and lately have to order the latest ones from internet. They are my favourite.

Marc Spoon was a special guy. I moved to Frankfurt from the US in 1994 and just partied my ass off in the german rave scene for 10 years (and I still live between Frankfurt and the states). Marc Spoon was an essential part of that scene. I always said he was one of the ‘Holy Trinity’ of Frankfurt music: Marc Spoon, DJ Dag, and Sven Väth. He had a special sound on the turntables - as fat as he was. You never knew what to expect - but it was always a pleasant surprise. I met him once in Wiesbaden and he was a cool guy. We in Frankfurt will miss him dearly. He really did know how to rock the house. Rest in peace Markus (his real name was Markus Löffel, Löffel meaning spoon in german). Peace, out. "Right in the Night" literally was THE song that turned me on to electronic music...so in total honesty Mark was pivotal in making me the person i am today - may sound corny but it's true. And mostly any J&S track since has been a journey into beauty. Such sad news - thanks Mark for a beautiful soundtrack and wonderful memories...

When I first started getting into Dance Music, I used to listen to these tracks on MTV all the time as a teenager, He would be a big influence on why I make music myself tday. I loved that early trance sound it's so melodic! Marc you are sadly missed and I hope you've found peace and harmony, all the best,
